THE NEW LANDSCAPE

The landscape of our time is not merely what can be seen with the naked eye, but the mysteries of the natural world, as revealed by the tools, techniques and concepts of modern science.

Using images produced by electron microscopes, radio telescopes, particle accelerators, I explore the underlying nature of humanity, our world, and our universe. My work is both abstract, an exploration of form and color, and a literal representation of the hidden realities surrounding us.Taking the images and ideas of modern science and translating them through the media of paint, pastel and ink, I depict both their physical and metaphorical dimensions.

My work deals with the realms of the sub-atomic, the microscopic, and the galactic. The sub-atomic world challenges our notions of what we believe to be true about the world with such concepts as uncertainty, duality and an observer created reality. In exploring the microscopic world, the beauty of the images of deadly diseases are contrasted with the known horrors of their effects, forcing us to reexamine our notions of good, evil, and beauty. In it the great plan of the universe is revealed.
