With Presentations by Donna Marshall and Bahman Kalantari

"Quantum Rivers"

Donna Marshall showed art work from three different series of paintings. The latest series, "Quantum Rivers", has been created in the search of the most fundamental landscape. Her investigations have exposed her to the quantum- , the string-, the zero point field theory, and much more. This is Donna's first group of paintings that seeks to bring the subatomic landscape (and the new conceptualizing of reality) to a down-home, down to earth expression. Finally, through science, she's coming back to her original intuitive feeling: the fertile dense mystery of space itself.

"Polynomiography"

Bahman Kalantari, computer scientist and a mathematician at Rutgers University, gave a presentation on "polynomiography", a term he has coined for computer visualization of polynomial equations. Artistically, polynomiography can be used to create quite a diverse set of images reminiscent of the intricate patterning of carpets and elegant fabrics, abstract expressionist and minimalist art, animation, and much more. Bahman not only showed his personal artwork, he also introduced polynomiography as a new art form for all artists without the need to know the underlying mathematical theory.
